Web 2.0 provides lots of “purposes” in internet, such as sharing photos (www.flickr.com), sharing opinion (www.discuss.com.hk), and even posting personal diary (www.blogger.com). Recently I have come across with the project from my work in constructing blogsite riding on web 2.0 technology (RSS feed on mobile for news content, one2free.com/blog) which ultimately brought into some increasing traffic to our corporate website (which was built under web 1.0).
The whole idea of web 2.0 is that it visualizes the need of exchange of information in our daily life, rather than to send the information through traditional mail, instead it can be done through internet, which work without promixity boundaries.
In other words, Web 2.0 is a kind of push-and-pull diffusion of interpersonal communication technology through internet – you can not only share your information to others, you can also extract useful information from internet as well.
I see web 2.0 brings lot of convenience to the human being on planet. From business perspective, you can easily share out your “intentional” message through this technology (for instance, viral messages can be spread out through the platform). From personal perspective, you can share your most updated information (such as videos, photos) to your friends who is residing overseas (through blog site), or even someone who has the same interest as you are.
I believe that web 2.0 still have room to expand and make good use in both personal or business need. And there is also a tremendous business opportunity underlied that can turn this "technology" into financial legend – like youtube.com.
